About us

Our farm story is one of starting from the ground up. Set back and enjoy the ride through the creation of H&H Farms.

My wife Jessica and I started H&H Farms as a partnership in 2016. Notice I use the word partnership here because any true farm family will tell you that it MUST be a partnership in which each spouse is just as invested in the operation and its success as the other, otherwise it just won't work out. Either the farm will fail or the marriage will. We both wanted to have our own farm where we could start and raise our family.  We both put in many hours each week on the farm but it is truly a labor of love.

Growing up participating in 4-H I fell in love with agriculture at an early age and continued to study it even after graduating from high school. After returning from my last deployment overseas I graduated with my BS in Agriculture Business in 2013 from The University of Tennessee at Martin. This education gave me the foundation necessary to start the planning process for which would later become our family farm.

Jessica grew up the daughter of a row crop farmer and luckily knew the joys and discomforts of agriculture life going into our marriage, the late night suppers after long days spent out in the field, and the early mornings with her dad sometimes leaving before the sun was up. Jessica graduated from Bethel University in 2013 with a BS in Special Education and soon started teaching at a local school.

After we both graduated from college we determined that if we ever wanted to start our farm we better get started now, so we purchased our first 20 acres in 2016 and started tearing down old fences and building new ones. It was during this time that we started our pork operation with our first two hogs. Little did we know that 2 hogs would culminate with almost 40 hogs just a few years later.

As our hog operation continued to grow we started growing hogs for local community members and later determined that we should provide locally raised pork to all our community by selling at our local farmers market. Now we sell at 4 farmer's markets in the West Tennessee region helping bring farm fresh pork to those within our community.

In 2015 when our son was born we knew we wanted to raise him as a "farm kid" so what do all farm parents do? They buy their children chickens of course. As Jaxon continued to grow he began taking more responsibility for his chickens and soon had his own little business selling his eggs. As his egg sales increased we continued to diversify and began raising meat chickens which we too sold at the farmer's market.

In 2019 we wanted to raise a few turkeys for our own family Thanksgiving, little did we know that everyone else wanted us to raise turkeys for them too so when there is a demand you ramp up production to create the supply. Over the past 4 years, we have raised turkeys each year so local families can provide the freshest highest quality bird for their own families for this special family meal.

Our success comes not only from hard work and education but from the connections we have made along the way. We are actively involved in organizations such as the Tennessee Farm Bureau, the West TN Local Food Network, and the Farmer Veteran Coalition. We have had multiple opportunities to network with people who have provided guidance to help us continue to develop our operation and I would be remised if I didn't acknowledge their part in our success.
